A Jazz Conversation between Devin Phillips and Branford Marsalis
While in Portland for a duo performance with Joey Calderazzo,  Branford took a moment to sit down with fellow New Orleanian Devin Phillips to catch up.  In the oral tradition of the South, their conversation covered a wide variety of topics from the motivating factors of classical music to Branford’s appearance on Bravo’s Top Chef [along with another New Orleans’ native, Chef John Besh] to the parallels between jazz soloists and fashion.  This is definitely worth hearing!  So visit OregonMusicNews.com to stream this interview and check out some of the other interesting conversations recorded during the Festival with artists Charlie Hunter, Bill Frisell, Vijay Iyer, and Roy Haynes among others.
